I believe that in order to be an advocate for patients and their families, it is my duty to maintain and expand my knowledge and skills. I find happiness in uplifting others in a time of need. I was born to be a healer.”

Reem Elhossary, Reiki Master

Reem Elhossary is a master level Reiki therapist who is the newest addition to the Purposeful Healing DPC membership. She has lived in Dallas for over 20 years. Reem came to discover alternative therapies due to her own medical journey.

What is Reiki you might ask? Reiki is a form of alterative treatment that is designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system to promote healing. When the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) is activated, it slows our heart and breathing rates, lowers blood pressure and promotes digestion. Our body enters a state of relaxation, and this relaxation breeds recovery.

Reiki practitioners act as conduits to release these trapped energies and allow the body to heal as it is designed to do naturally. Most clients enter a relaxation stage and may fall asleep during the session and wake up feeling refreshed, lighter and more peaceful. Dr. Moravec is a licensed psychologist who has been in practice since 2009.  She has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston, which is accredited by the American Psychological Association. As part of this five-year degree program, she completed three years of supervised training in schools, at a university counseling center, and with male and female Veterans with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other issues at a Veterans Affairs hospital. She completed an accredited year long pre-doctoral internship at a Veterans Affairs hospital, and then engaged in a post-doctoral training program at the VA, specializing in trauma and anxiety disorders. Dr. Moravec received further supervised experience as a staff member in the VA, and has continued her education through training programs in therapy modalities.
